| Partners The Bank-Netherlands Water Partnership works closely with a number of partners. Partners include national, state, or local governments, non-governmental organizations, community groups, and the private sector. Partners are also targeted through a number of global networks and programs. Global Water Partnership (GWP) The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is an independent network open to national governments, research and non-profit organizations, NGOs, UN agencies, multilateral banks, private companies, and other institutional stakeholders involved in water resources management. The Global Water Partnership (GWP) facilitates the exchange of knowledge, experience and the practice of integrated water resources management. The partnership has a decentralized, self-reliant character through its eight regional outlets. UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education The UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education's mission is to contribute to the education and training of capable professionals and to build the capacity of knowledge centers and other organizations in the fields of water, the environment and infrastructure in developing countries and countries in transition. IRC-International Water and Sanitation Centre The IRC is an independent, non-profit organisation that facilitates the sharing, promotion, and use of knowledge so that governments, professionals, and organisations can better support poor men, women, and children in developing countries to obtain water and sanitation services they will use and maintain. International Water Association (IWA) The International Water Association is a global network of water professionals, spanning the continuum between research and practice and covering all facets of the water cycle. Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs The Netherlands' Ministry of Foreign Affairs - one of the leading donors in the water sector - finances the Bank-Netherlands Water Partnership Program. The Netherlands' development cooperation aims to combat poverty in a sustainable manner. To reduce poverty The Netherlands cooperates closely with a limited number of developing nations (bilateral aid), development organisations (multilateral aid), and non-governmental and civil society organizations. Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council provides water supply and sanitation sector professionals strategies, guiding principles, manuals, source information, and replicable models. WSSCC focuses on hygiene promotion, environmental sanitation, institutional and management options, public-private partnerships and the adoption of a sector code of ethics and rights, and community-based, participatory and social-marketing approaches. World Bank Institute (WBI) The Water Policy & Management program of the World Bank Institute highlights the important role that water plays in factors that are essential for sustainable development, including economic growth, health, and reduced vulnerability. Water scarcity, water quality, and access to water resources by the poor are the key development challenges faced by many countries and regions. Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) The WSP strengthens sector policies, improves sector investments, and generates and communicates sector knowledge by supporting governments, private sector, non-governmental organizations and communities. Asian Development Bank's Cooperation Fund for the Water Sector The Cooperation Fund for the Water Sector is a five-year multi-donor facility that finances a coherent program of activities designed to promote effective water management policies and practices in the Asia and the Pacific region. IDB-Netherlands Water Partnership Program (INWAP) The INWAP is a joint effort by the IDB and the Government of The Netherlands to promote and support the implementation of the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management in projects throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. |
